Lisa Schwartz, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Section of Behavioral Oncology in the Center for Childhood Cancer Research, and a member of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a pediatric psychologist at CHOP in the Division of Oncology and the psychologist for the Cancer Survivorship Program. Dr. Schwartz received her PhD in clinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University with a specialty in pediatric psychology. She completed her clinical psychology internship and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Psychology and Oncology Divisions of CHOP under the mentorship of Drs. Anne Kazak and Jerilynn Radcliffe. She was appointed to the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics in 2010. Dr. Schwartz received the Aflac Young Investigator Award in Adolescent/Young Adult Oncology and is a recognized expert in adolescent and young adult behavioral oncology. She also has expertise in transition to adult care and, as such, collaborates and consults with other investigators on transition research across a range of diseases. Dr. Schwartz is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP), on which she is a Board Member. She also co-founded the AYA special interest group of SPP. She also is on the editorial board of the Journals of Pediatric Psychology (JPP) and Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology (CPPP). She co-edited a special issue for JPP on Health Care Transitions of AYA with Chronic Health Conditions. Dr. Schwartz has mentored a variety of students at all levels throughout her career, ranging from undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral trainees. Dr. Schwartz’s current research is funded by the National Cancer Institute, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and the CHOP Department of Pediatrics Chair’s Initiative.
