Nichols, MD is studying the signaling mechanisms that regulate the activation of lymphocytes and macrophages types of white blood cells involved in many disease processes, including cancer, the lymphohistiocytoses, autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiency. An improved understanding of normal immunity may help facilitate the design of more biologically-based therapies for hematological malignancies and other blood diseases.
