Home Research Neuroblastoma

Researchers at Children's Hospital have worked for decades on studying and treating neuroblastoma, a cancer of nerve tissue. The Evans Staging System, used worldwide to classify different forms of neuroblastoma, was developed by former Children's Hospital physician Audrey E. Evans, MD and colleagues. Defining the specific type of neuroblastoma is particularly important because some types resolve spontaneously or are curable with surgery while other types are very aggressive. Neuroblastoma is an unusual cancer in that it may get better on its own in children under age 1 after surgery to remove the tumor.
